Introduction

My quick & filling take on a crock pot staple. I have not added any salt to this recipe, but you may if you like. Also, we like to add a little tabasco sauce to spice it up a little at the end. Serve with whole grain bread or salad for a complete meal.

Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    * 16 oz Dried Split Peas (Washed, Sorted & Drained)

    * 8 oz Diced Ham

    * 8 oz Carrots (1/4 inch thick slices)

    * 4 oz Celery (1/4 inch thick slices)

    * 4 oz Onion (diced fine)

    * 2 Cloves Garlic (minced)

    * 1 Bay Leaf

    * 1 Tsp Black Pepper

    * 1 Tsp Dill Weed (dried)

    * 32 oz Low Sodium Chicken Broth

    * 8 oz Hot Water

    * Dash of Tabasco Sauce if desired

Directions

Layer ingredients in your crock pot in the order listed above. Add the low sodium chick broth then the hot water. Do not stir the ingredients together. You may cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 8-10 hours. Add tabasco sauce at the end if you desire.
