Ingredients

1/4 cup orange masoor dal
1/4 cup yellow moong dal
1/2 cup chana dal
1 medium tomato coarsely diced
1 medium onion chopped
3 tbsp oil
2 green chilies
4-5 curry leaves
1 tsp mustard seed
1 tsp cumin seed
4-5 fenugreek seeds
pinch of hing
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1.5 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
lemon juice 1-2 tbsp
salt
Directions
wash all the three dals under cold water 5-6 times. boil in a pressure cooker without salt. open lid, mash a little
heat oil in a skillet, add fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds let crackle, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, hing, turmeric and red chilli powder. saute 1-2 min
add green chillies and coriander and cumin powder, saute 2 min
add onions, saute until almost transparent
add tomatoes, cook 4-5 mins, donot stir too much, the tomatoes should not turn into a paste
add to the dal, simmer the dal with 1/2 cup water if necessary and salt to taste for 20-30 min on low heat. add a dash of lemon juice and coriander leaves
