Introduction

Ingredients

Onion Brown 90g
Garlic, 6 cloves finely grated
Carrot, raw 50g grated
Celery, 1 small Stalk finely chopped
Ground Beef, lean 400g
Crushed Tomato or Tomato Pasata, 200g
Red Wine, 0.5 cup
Beef Stock, 1 cup or more
Bay Leaf, remove before serving
Oregano, ground 0.5 tsp or to taste
Basil, fresh 5 leaves
Water to prevent drying
Directions
1. Brown the Ground beef and strain of excess fat
2. Saute the onions until soft
3. Saute the grated carrot and chopped celery
4. Saute the Garlic
5. Add Red Wine, Bay Leaves, Oregano and simmer
6. Add back the Ground Beef and simmer for about 10 mins
7. Cover with the Beef stock and simmer for 2 hrs, usually the longer you simmer the better the sauce. Top up with water if too dry
8. Add the Basil leaves in the last half hour of simmer time
9. Remove Bay leaves before serving
10. Add Salt and Pepper to your taste
11. Serve over 1 cup Cooked pasta, your choice
12. Makes 6 x 0.5 metric cup servings.
