Introduction
Taught to me by my late, great, German mother-in-law. Always a big hit! Taught to me by my late, great, German mother-in-law. Always a big hit!Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
-
8 pieces of flank steak (or ask your butcher for 8 pieces of roladin)
8 bacon strips
8 dill pickle quarters
1 onion, chopped
yellow mustard, to taste
salt and pepper, to taste
1 tsp cornstarch
Directions
Preheat over to 375 degrees F.
On each piece of roladin:
Spread mustard, place one bacon strip, one dill pickle quarter, sprinkle of chopped onion, salt and pepper to taste. Roll up each roladin and secure with a small metal skewer (or toothpicks). Brown roladin in oil in hot skillet. Please browned roladin in an oval or rectangular casserole dish. Add enough hot water to just cover the roladin. Bake, covered, for 45 minutes. When done, remove roladin and keep warm. Add cornstarch mixed with water to the water in the casserole dish. Heat over medium heat until slightly thickened into a beautiful gravy, adding more cornstarch if necessary. (You may wish to use gravy mix in place of cornstarch). Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or spaezle. (Don't forget to remove the toothpicks/skewers!!)
