Introduction

Simple preparation of turnips based on an ancient Roman recipe (Platina). The "armor" is the baked, melted cheese. This is a special occasion dish I'm entering for our logging purposes. Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    4 medium turnips
    2 T butter
    1/2 c. shredded swiss cheese
    pepper (opt.)
    allspice (opt.)

Directions

Peel & slice turnips 1/4". Parboil in salted water for 5 minutes. Drain. Arrange in buttered 9" cake pan in overlapping slices. Top with additional melted butter & shredded cheese. Season with pepper & a dusting of allspice, if desired. Bake at 400 for ~15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Serving Size: Makes 8 servings (1/8 of a 9" round pan)
