Ingredients

1 cup Quaker instant, quick cook oats - ground in food processor
    1/4 cup wheat germ
    1 cup rice krispies
    1 cup non-fat dry milk (1pkg)
1/2 tsp cinnamon (or to taste)
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
    1/4 cup canola oil
1 tsp canola oil for greasing pan
    1/2 cup honey
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1/4 cup chocolate chips
    1/4 cup coconut
(optional - chips, coconut, raisins, dried fruit, almonds)
1/4 melted butter to brush on top before baking)

Directions

tip - measure oil first - then honey - it will pour out easier
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Line a 9x13 baking pan with parchment paper and grease with the tsp of canola oil
In large bowl mix oats, wheat germ, krispies cereal, dry milk, choc. chips, coconut, cinnamon, and salt. Add canola oil, honey, vanilla, Mix well. Press firmly and evenly into pan packing into corners too. If not pressed firmly bars will crumble when removing. Brush edges liberally and center lightly with the melted butter - it adds flavor as well as helps bars stay together when cutting.
Bake for 15- 18 minutes - check occasionally- too little time they are too loose - too much time they are too dry.
Let cool slightly then remove from pan still on paper onto flat surface. Let cool a little more - cut while still warm.
I wrap in plastic wrap for ease in carrying. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze in plastic.
I cut into 10 bars - obviously smaller bars would be fewer calories.
