Ingredients
-
1/2 cup frozen or cold butter
2 cups white flour
1 TBS baking powder
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp granulated sugar
1/2 cold milk (2%)
Directions
Put flour and other dry ingredients into a food processor. Add the frozen or cold butter which you have cut into chunks. (If you are lucky you get butter in sticks, and 1 stick is the right amount. I have to cut if off the 1 lb block.)
Pulse in food processor until well incorporated. I put the whole container in the refrig and keep it cold just until I am ready to bake them.
Add milk to processor and whirl until it forms a ball. Roll out lightly on a floured surface and cut with cutters. The cut "sharp" edge helps them get their height.
Bake on ungreased sheet at 450 degrees until golden.
