Ingredients

    32c. chopped tomatoes
    1 bunch celery
    6 med. onions
    1/2 c. sugar
    6 teaspoons salt
    1 stick butter
    1/2 c. corn starch dissolved in 1/2c. water
    6 whole cloves
    2 bay leaves

Directions

Cook tomatoes, onions and celery together until soft, usually 1-2 hours. Put through a food mill. Add the rest of ingredients to juice and boil together until slightly thickened. Stir often. Remove cloves and bay leaves. Can in jars, or freeze. Makes 7-8 quart jars, or 28-32 1-cup servings. Fabulous with low fat cottage cheese stirred in!
