Ingredients
-
1 cup Lentils (Yellow Split Peas)
1 clove Garlic, chopped
1 Scotch Bonnet Pepper, chopped, discard seeds
¼ Onion, diced
4 cups Water
1 tbsp Cumin seed
2 tbsp Smart Balance Omega Canola, Soy & Olive Oils
Directions
Combine the peas, garlic, pepper, and onion with water and bring to a boil. Boil until the peas are very soft but there is still enough liquid in the pot for the peas to move freely. Add more water if necessary. Once done liquefy the dhal using a stick blender or swizzle stick (ghutney).
Heat oil in a small pan, add the cumin and cook until brown. Add the oil with the cumin to the dhal and cover the pot. After it has sizzled, stir the pot.
