Introduction
Very creamy and flavorful dish. First meal I ever made for my in-laws and I won them over. Very creamy and flavorful dish. First meal I ever made for my in-laws and I won them over.Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
-
14 oz frozen broccoli
1.5 lb cubed cooked chicken breast
8 tbsp light butter
6 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp white pepper
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
pinch of cayenne
2 cups skim milk
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup dry white wine or cooking wine
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cups 2% shredded Cheddar cheese
2/3 cup Parmesan cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 375.
Cube and cook chicken until done (I cook mine in a pot of water).
(No need to pre-cook the broccoli)
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
Add the flour, white pepper, nutmeg, cayenne, and whisk until blended (scrape up the edges of the pan occasionally with a spoon to get the little bits that are left behind by the whisk).
Very gradually whisk in the milk and broth and cook, stirring constantly until thickened.
Whisk in the wine and Worcestershire sauce.
Arrange half of the broccoli in a 9x13 baking dish.
Arrange half of the chicken on top of the broccoli
Pour half of the sauce over the broccoli and chicken.
Sprinkle with half of the Cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
Repeat the layers once more (broccoli, chicken, sauce, cheeses).
Bake for 20 minutes until bubbly.
Let sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
