Ingredients

    Louisiana Cajun Gumbo mix (5 oz.)
    16 oz of frozen cut okra
    1 pound of frozen cooked deveined and peeled small shrimp (100-150 count)

Directions

Put shrimp in a bowl of cool water or collandar to thaw (they thaw quickly).

Follow directions on the package for the gumbo mix. (It is important to use cool water).

Begin to sautee the cut okra in a skillet.
(This takes at least 15 minutes. If you do not sautee the okra it will be very slimy in the gumbo)

When the gumbo comes to a boil add the sauteed okra and shrimp.
Return to a boil reduce heat and let simmer another 10-15 minutes.

This recipe makes 10 one cup servings.

Serving suggestion: serve over 1/4 cup of rice.
Tip:
{Gumbo is served with rice. I recommend that you put your rice on to cook first so that it will be ready when the gumbo is ready! Rice is not included in the nutritional information.}
