Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1/2 gallon whole milk
    2 pints Oysters
    1/2 stick butter
    1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
    dash celery salt

Directions

Strain oysters (save liquid) and pick over for pieces of shell. Give oysters a quick rinse to remove any sand. Bring oysters and their liquid to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook until their edges curl.
In a separate large sauce pan, scald milk (bring to a simmer but do NOT boil), add butter, oysters, worcestershire sauce. Add a dash of celery salt and serve. makes 8 1-cup servings.

    A Christmas Eve tradition for my family, too. It works as well without the worcestershire sauce & celery salt by substituting plain old salt & pepper. - 2/3/08
