    1 cup steel-cut oats
    1/2 cup cranberries -- fresh or dried
    1 cup apple -- peeled, cored, and chopped
    1/4 cup brown sugar -- firmly packed
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    4 cups water


Here is another fabulous overnight oatmeal made with steel-cut oats. If you would like a richer flavor, toast the oats on a baking sheet at 350 F. for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, before putting them in the crock.


Combine the oats, cranberries, apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and water in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on Low for 7 to 9 hours, or overnight.
Stir well and scoop into serving bowls with an oversize spoon. Serve with milk and maple sugar or syrup.
