Introduction

Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 pound lean ground turkey
    1 onion, chopped
    1 (16 ounce) can pinto beans, with liquid
    1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans with liquid
    1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn, with liquid
    1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
    2 cups water
    2 (14.5 ounce) cans peeled and diced tomatoes
    1 (4 ounce) can diced green Chile peppers
    1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix

    Optional:
    If you want to make your own taco seasoning, this is the recipe I use:
    1 tablespoon chili powder
    1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
    1/4 teaspoon onion powder
    1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
    1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/2 teaspoon paprika
    1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
    1/2 teaspoon sea salt
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    1/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper

Tips

*You may want to use half of the taco seasoning while cooking the meat.
*I make my own taco seasoning and use all organic canned goods with no added salt or preservatives.
*This is a great base recipe to play with to fit your own taste


Directions

1. In a medium skillet, cook the ground turkey and half the chopped onion until browned over medium heat. Drain if necessary. (If you choose to, add have the taco seasoning in the meat now)
2. Place the ground meat, remaining onion, chili beans, kidney beans, corn, tomato sauce, water, diced tomatoes, green chile peppers and taco seasoning mix in a slow cooker. Mix to blend, and cook on Low setting for 8 hours.
*Serve topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, and tortilla strips.(These are not included in the Nutritional value)

Serving Size: About 8- 1.5 cup servings
