Introduction
My family loves it, and it's great as a thin crust. I know the serving size says one 12 inch, but I portion the dough out for four separate pizzas. My family loves it, and it's great as a thin crust. Ingredients
-
One pack of dry active yeast
1/2 cup of warm water
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup all purpose flour
Tips
I like to add the yeast (without the water), salt, and flours together, then add the oil and water when I want to make this to freeze. As soon as it comes together, I go ahead and portion it out into smaller balls (I like to make individual sized pizzas with a thin crust) that go into separate baggies. You can freeze them, then as they thaw, they'll rise. Also, if the dough doesn't come together well, add a teaspoon of water until it does.
Directions
Put the warm water and yeast in a small bowl and sprinkle in the yeast. Let stand 5 minutes until foamy.
Combine both flours with the salt. Add in the yeast and oil and mix together. After the dough forms a ball, move it to a lightly floured counter. Knead briefly until smooth and elastic.
Spray a large bowl with nonstick spray; put the dough in the bowl. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Punch down dough and roll into a 12-inch circle. Spray a nonstick cookie sheet with nonstick spray. Place the dough on the tray and top as desired. Bake until light brown and crunchy, 12 to 15 minutes.
