Ingredients

    2 Cups Split Peas
    1 Cup Pearl Barley
    1/2 Cup raw carrot, chopped
    1 cup yellow onion, chopped
    1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
    4 cups chicken broth
    1 Tsp. oregano
    1 Tbsp. thyme
    1 Tbsp. garlic powder
    4 cups water
    2 medium raw potatoes, chopped
    2 Tsp. Chicken Bouillon
    salt and pepper to taste



Tips

To make this a vegetarian recipe, vegetable broth and bouillon may be substituted for the chicken broth.


Directions

soften carrot & onion in the olive oil. Add split peas, barley, oregano, thyme, garlic power and broth and water. Cook slowly uncovered for one hour. Add potato. Check seasoning. Add two tsp. bouillon. Continue cooking for another hour.
