Ingredients
-
Dough:
1 (0.25-ounce) packet active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk, (105°F to 115°F / 40°C to 45°C)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon salt
2 T flax seeds, milled
1/2 cup water
4 cups all-purpose or bread flour
Filling:
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 T butter, softened (Will be VERY thin spread out)
Tips
This works fine with non-vegan ingredients. You can use So Delicious coconut milk instead of almond milk too.
We eat these without frosting, they are so gooey and delicious.
Directions
For Dough:
1. Heat milk, butter, sugar, and salt in a sauce pan until the butter is melted. Add Flax seeds and cold water, and when it's cool enough add the yeast. Wait 5 minutes and then add the flour flour; mix well.
2. Dust a flat surface with a small amount of flour and knead dough into a large ball. Return to bowl and cover. Let rise for 1 hour or until dough has doubled in size.
3. Remove dough from bowl and roll out on a lightly floured surface until dough is 21-inches long by 16-inches wide and 1/4-inch thick.
For Filling:
1. In a small separate bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
2. Spread 2T of butter evenly over surface of the dough and cover with cinnamon/brown sugar mixture.
3. Roll dough from the top (21-inch side) to bottom edge. Cut rolled dough into 12 slices and place in a 13X9 baking dish.
4. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
5. Bake for about 20 minutes or until light brown.
