This is a pure white frosting, ideal for wedding cakes. You can double the recipe if you have a sturdy mixer. Best for piping, if you are using it as a frosting base thin it out with milk. Ingredients

    1 cup shortening
    4 cups powdered sugar
    3-4 tablespoons milk
    1 teaspoon almond extract
    ½ teaspoon clear vanilla extract

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Beat on low speed of electric mixer until well blended and very smooth.
Store in refrigerator if not using immediately.

    Incredible!
    This is the recipe my Mom used, and I've always used (minus the almond extract), for icing (and Mom decorated cakes professionally!). Don't pour the milk in all at once; add it a tablespoon at a time, and mix in thoroughly in between, to find your preferred consistency. - 10/24/10
