Introduction
So easy to make and surprisingly delicious and low calorie to boot! So easy to make and surprisingly delicious and low calorie to boot!Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
-
Pillsbury Reduced Fat Crescent Rolls, 2 tubes
Granny smith apples 2 large, cut bite size chunks
Splenda or other substitute (or sugar) 1 cup
Light butter 1/3 cup melted
Diet Mountain Dew or Diet Mellow Yellow 10oz
Apple Pie Spice 2 Tblsp
Cinnamon, ground 2 Tblsp
13 X 9 baking dish
Tips
Peaches or Pears work as well as apples for a change of flavors...any fresh berry would also!
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. In a mixing bowl add chunked apples, spices and 1/4c of the Splenda. Toss together to coat apples. Mix remaining Splenda with melted butter and set aside. Open tubes of crescent roll dough and separate into 8 rectangles (do not tear into regular triangles...each tube gives 4 rectangles) On each rectangle put heaping TBlsp of apple mix in center and poke a "well" in middle, add 1tsp melted butter blend.
USE your hands and bring up sides of dough into a pouch shape and pinch to seal edges. Doesn't have to be fancy.
Place the 8 pouches in baking dish and pour diet soda into dish from the side, NOT ON TOP of dough, just so they sit in a bath of soda. Bake 350 for 35mins or until golden brown. Remove and cool 5mins, then spoon the syrup the cooked soda became onto pouches. Serve immediately with frozen vanilla yogurt or ice cream.
