Introduction

My Great Aunt, Linda always made this cake for all of our get togethers. I loved it so much, I asked her for the recipe so I may share it with my family. Number of Servings: 24

Ingredients

    - Cake Mix: 1 Box, Yellow is the standard color/flavor unless you prefer something else.

-Margarine: 1/2 cup or 1 stick, softened.

    -Crisco: 1/2 cup, solid shortening

-Sugar: 1 cup, may be substituted

    -Vanilla Extract: 1T.

    -Evaporated Milk: One 5oz. can.

Tips

Do not be afraid to play around with different cake mixes or adding additional things to your filling. My husband and I love pecans. To use as a birthday cake, play with food coloring or as a summer treat top with fresh strawberries and blueberries.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare cake mix as per directed on the box. Grease and flour, 2 cake pans (whichever shape you desire.) Fill cake pans 1/2 full with cake mix and bake 15-20 minutes in oven.
While baking cakes, make filling by creaming margarine, shortening, sugar and vanilla together. While slowly beating, gradually add milk until sugar is dissolved (approx. 8-10 minutes).
After cakes have been removed from pans and cooled completely, place cream filling on top of one of the cakes and cover with the remaining cake. ENJOY!
