Introduction

I got the original recipe from Dr Oz and I added veggies and.. well, flavor. I was a bit apprehensive about using oatmeal instead of breadcrumbs, but it turned out better than I expected. The only difference is that the loaf will be less firm, so be careful when serving. I got the original recipe from Dr Oz and I added veggies and.. well, flavor. Ingredients

    2lbs Ground Turkey, 93% lean
    1/2 cup Onion, finely diced
    1/4 cup Mushrooms finely chopped
1/4 cup Green bell pepper - finely chopped
    2 Egg whites
1/2 cup Rolled oats, not instant. (you won't taste this, don't worry)
    1 Fresh basil leaf, diced
1 tsp Fresh rosemary, finely chopped
    1 Garlic clove, minced
    Salt (opt) to taste
    White pepper to taste

Topping of your choice. I couldn't use anything because no one else in my family eats ketchup.

Tips

To keep the oil down, place one or two slices of fresh white bread in the pan before adding the meatloaf. The bread will soak up the oil. You can also place a wire rack above the pan to let the fat drop off, but you might end up with a dryer loaf.

Directions

Mix all the ingredients well and place in a glass baking pan. Bake for 40-50 minutes until done.
