Ingredients

    1 cup all-purpose flour
    2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon sugar
    2 tablespoons shortening
    1 cup buttermilk

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

2. Let buttermilk reach room temperature.

3. Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Stir in buttermilk. Roll out on floured surface about 1/2 inch think, and cut with biscuit cutter.

4. Bake on nonstick pan, sides touching for 10 to 12 minutes
