Ingredients
-
1 pound 93% lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 red bell pepper, chopped
2 minced garlic cloves
1 jalapenos, seeded and minced
4 cups chopped tomatoes
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 14.5 oz can black beans, drained
1/4 cup fresh chopped cilantro
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 1/2 teaspoons ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram leaves
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Tips
Can add plain non fat Greek yogurt to act as sour cream when eating the chili. Instead of using crackers, try using a fresh yellow or green bell pepper cut into strips.
Directions
In large stockpot, or crock pot, combine ground turkey, onion, red bell pepper, garlic, jalapeno peppers, and all spices. Cook until turkey meat is well done. Once turkey is cooked, ass tomatoes and tomato. If cooking in stockpot, bring to boil, then reduce and simmer for 10 minutes. Add black beans and cilantro and cook for 10 more minutes. If using crock pot, add beans with tomatoes, saving cilantro until last. Add cilantro to chili with only 30 minutes reaming. When cooking with crock pop chili should cook for about 3 hours.
