Ingredients

    1 tbsp olive oil
    3/4 large yellow onion, diced
    1.5 lbs lean ground beef
    2 tbsp chili powder
    1 tbsp chili and lime seasoning
    1 1/2 tbsp Montreal Seasoning
    1 15oz can pork and beans
    2 15 oz cans red kidney beans
    2 15 oz cans diced tomatoes
    5/8 cup Zinfandel
    1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Tips

Could substitute Cabernet Sauvignon or other hearty red wines, but Zin is best! Season individual servings to taste with your choice of hot peppers, chopped onion, shredded cheese and/or sour cream as condiments. Serve with fresh baked corn bread, topped with butter and honey!


Directions

Saute onion in olive oil until clear. Add ground beef, chop fine while cooking. Add chili powder and other seasonings. Stir and cook until ground beef is fully cooked. Add pork and beans,kidney beans and tomatoes. Stir in until hot and incorporated. Add wine, stir and simmer on low heat for 1/2 to 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add cocoa powder, stir and cook until incorporated.

Serving Size: Makes about 12 servings
