A protein-packed smoothie with an extra-thick milkshake consistency. I threw it together when I wanted a smoothie and realized I didn't have much by way of fresh fruit. Ingredients

    1 medium banana, cut into chunks (I used a frozen one, which made my smoothie colder)
    1 cup unsweetened almond milk
    1 scoop (15 g) of Trader Joe's Vanilla-Flavored Whey Protein Powder
    1 tbsp chia seeds
    1 tbsp Hershey's Original Chocolate Syrup

Tips

Chia seeds expand in liquid, which is one of the reasons this smoothie is so thick and satisfying.


Directions

Put the banana chunks in a blender and pulse a couple of seconds. Add the remaining ingredients and blend for about 30 seconds. Leave the mixture in the blender for about 15 minutes to give the chia seeds time to expand. Blend again for about 30-60 seconds, depending on desired consistency.

Serving Size: Makes about 18 oz of smoothie, one big or two med servings
