Introduction
My husband is from the Netherlands and misses and loves his Shawarma. So I looked up the spices and made them into a Turkey burger one night and the love affair began. The calories include Turkey but you could use beef , Also we go low carb so no bun in the calories. We do like light mayo and that is in the count. You can use the spices to make Traditional shawarma also . I will try to post a recipe for that also. Hope you enjoy. My husband is from the Netherlands and misses and loves his Shawarma. Tips
Shawarma spice mix is great in burgers , on chicken. Don't be scared to try it ..
We sometimes serve these on salads. Traditional Shawarma served in pita with cucumber, lettuce, tomato. Also in Holland served sometimes on fries with salad and Shawarma on top.
Great with sweet potato fries.
Can make with beef but would change the calorie info.
also mixing together ahead of time and letting the flavors meld a bit in the fridge makes them even better if you have the time.

My whole family loved this recipe. We used beef rather than Turkey because I was looking for something to flavour the ground beef I had. Will definitely try the Turkey next time! I made the mayo sauce for my son who is off dairy but I also made a tzatziki sauce and a tahini sauce (also dairy free). - 5/31/13
