Ingredients

    4 pork steaks
    3 large onions, halved and sliced
    200 gm mushrooms, sliced
    1 T flour for dredging
    1/2 liter chicken or vegetable stock
    1 T olive oil

Directions

1. Heat olive oil up on the stovetop in a heavy, ovenproof skillet over a medium-high heat. Prreh-heat oven to Gas Mark 5.

2. Add onions and mushrooms and cook unitl soft and slightly coloured.

3. Remove onions and mushrooms, add a small amount more of olive oil, if needed.

4. Dredge pork steaks in flour, fry off in pan until browned on both sides. Add the onion and mushrooms back to the skillet. Add the stock. Season to taste with salt and pepper, add thyme or other fresh herbs like rosemary if desired and a couple small dried bay leaves.

5. Cover and place in oven and let cook for 45 minutes to an hour.

Serve with mashed potatoes and a green vegetable.

    The language and measurements in this recipe are impossible for me to understand. I don't have a clue what a gas number is. :o( - 12/6/09
