These are easy to make, and cheaper than buying them. Its a good way to use up semi stale pit bread too!!! Also you can adjust the seasonings to your liking, making it spicier, or mild. Ingredients
-
whole wheat pita bread(regular size..I use Sahara),100% grated Parmesan Cheese (in the bottle),Cajun Spice mixture,EVOO cooking spray
Tips
Be sure to keep an eye on these while baking, they can burn easily. If your oven runs hot...cook them at 375 instead of 400 degrees. You can double or triple the recipe to make a larger amout ( just factor the additonal calories/fat). Store them in an air tight container for 3-5 days.
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Cut regualr size pitas into 8 triangles. Seperate these into 16 pieces and place on a non-stick cookie sheet. Spray with EVOO Italian cooking spray, then sprinke the Parm chesses and cajun spices on pita pieces. Cook on top/middle rack (not bottom one they can burn!). After 4 minutes turn the pita crisps over, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes depending on how crispy you want them. Let them cool, and serve with hummus, eggplant dip,kale/spinach yogurt dip,or snack on them plain..these have a good amount of flavor.
