Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    Beef for stew 1/2 lb,
    Pork for stew 1/2 lb,
    Onions, chopped, 1 cup
    Garlic, minced, 2 cloves
    salt, 1 tsp
    pepper, 1 tsp
    turnips, 4 small, cut up
    carrots, 2 medium, sliced
    celery, 1-2 stalks, sliced or chopped
    Chicken broth, 1 cup
    2 cups apple cider, cloudy type
    1 green pepper, chopped
    3 potatoes, cut up
    1 bay leave, whole
    oil to brown meat
    1 tbsp cornstarch

Directions

Saute garlic and onions in olive oil in a duth oven type pan. When onions are translucent, add the beef and pork. After meat is browned, add chicken broth, apple cider, turnips, carrots, celery,salt, pepper and bay leave. Bring to boil, lower heat to simmer, Let simmer for 2 hours. Take the 1 tbsp cornstarch, stir in about 1/2 cup water. When smooth add to stew. Add potatoes and green pepper, simmer another 1 hour before serving.

Optional, leave out potatoes. Make Cheesy mashed potatoes. Place in bowl, ladle stew over.

Makes about 4-6 servings, depending on size of serving.
