Introduction

Ingredients

Left over Ham Bone w/ scraps (or Ham Hock or Kielbasa)
3 sm. cans Chicken Stock
1 cans V8 Juice
1 Lg. can Whole Tomatoes
1 med. Parsnip (cubed)
1/2 Rutabaga (cubed)
2-3 Lg. Carrots (cubed size)
2-3 Potatoes (cubed)
2 Lg. stalks Celery
1 med. Valdalia/Sweet Onion
5 cloves Garlic
Cabbage (small Head or 1/2 of Lg. Head)
1 pack. Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
Hot pepper vinegar sauce to taste
Salt & Pepper to taste
Saltine Crackers (optional)
Tips
Can add: canned or dry Northern/Navy Beans
Cut cabbage into large pieces or it may breakdown into the soup.
This recipe is fantastic made a day ahead. It tastes even better the second day!
Directions
If using Kielbasa, slice into discs and brown with the onions in a skillet and add a little water to get the stuff that stuck to the pan and pour into a crockpot.
Then, add everything but the cabbage into a Large Slow Cooker on low for 6-8 hours
Then add cabbage and cook for additional hour
and enjoy!
Or
Cook on the stove by adding all the ingredients except the cabbage cover and bring to a boil then reduce heat to simmer for 3 hours add the cabbage cook on medium for an additional hour and enjoy.
Serving Size: Makes approx. 12-15 Servings (bowls)
