Introduction

Loved family recipe known as "Aunt Carol's Meatballs", but can't tolerate high fructose corn syrup or corn syrup period. So used a couple recipes to make this one.
Calculation - does not include meatballs. I like to use Turkey meatball recipe.

Ingredients

    1 - (6ounce can) tomato paste
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 cup honey
    1/2 cup white vinegar
    1 Tbsp minced onion flakes
    1 tsp chili powder
    1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
    1/4 tsp ground allspice
    1/8 tsp ground cloves
    1/8 tsp garlic powder
    1/8 tsp red chili pepper flakes
    1/8 tsp pepper
    1 1/4 cups Welch's Natural Concord Grape Spread
    1 Tbsp decaf instant coffee (gives smoky taste)


Directions

1. Whisk all ingredients except grape spread and coffee into a medium bowl
2. Simmer sauce in a small saucepan over low heat until proper/ desire consistency is reached. thick but viscous.
3. Remove form heat and allow to cool.
4. Mix in the grape spread and coffee until smooth.
5. Pour over meatballs and bake for 60 minutes at 350F, stirring part way through
