Introduction

A family favorite for a special treat. A family favorite for a special treat.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 cup water
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon sugar
    3 cups all purpose flour
    1-1/2 teaspoons active, dry yeast
1 lb. organic lean, ground beef
    1 packet low-sodium taco seasoning
1 cup Ortega mild, taco sauce
1 cup Sargento Mexican-blend shredded cheese

Tips

I use a large, rimmed cookie sheet to make a large rectangle pizza instead of the traditional round pan. Slices end up being about 3" x 4" in size.

Directions

I use a bread machine to make the dough, but you can go old-school. (water, oil, salt, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Add enough flour to get a working dough. Knead and let it sit to rise.) Press into greased pan and set aside.

Brown ground beef and when no longer pink, add taco seasoning packet. (Follow packet directions.) When the meat is done, you are ready to assemble your pizza.

Pour taco sauce on the unbaked crust and spread it around (leave 1/4-1/2 inch around edges.) Evenly spoon the ground beef over the sauce/crust. Sprinkle with the cheese and bake in a 425 degree oven for 12 - 14 minutes.
