Ingredients

2 - 14.5 oz cans of crushed tomatoes
2 - 14.5 oz cans of diced tomatoes with basil, galic and oregano
2 - 15 oz cans of tomato sauce
    1 large white onion, chopped
    1 medium green bell pepper
    4 garlic cloves, chopped
    1 T olive oil
    6 t. Italian seasoning
    2 t. Garlic powder
    1 bag of frozen meatballs
1 16 oz box of Rotini Pasta

Tips

This sauce truly only needs to cook for about 30 minutes but for a more intense and authentic flavor, slow and low is the best approach. The hour long simmer and 30 minutes with meat added just makes a richer, deeper sauce.

Directions

Chop/dice the garlic, onion and green bell pepper, set aside. Heat olive oil in dutch oven or large sauce pan, add onion and bell peppers, saute until softened (6 - 8 mins). Add garlic and saute for another minute. Add 1 cup of beef broth and simmer until liquid is reduced by at least half. Add crushed tomatoes, add diced tomatoes crushing them by hand and tomato sauce, Italian seasonings and garlic powder and continue to simmer on low for an hour. Add the meatballs and simmer for another 30 minutes. Add Rotini pasta and 2 cups of water, simmer until pasta is soft and extra liquid is absorbed. Add more liquid and cook longer if pasta isn't done to your liking.
