    Onions, raw, 4 large (remove), slice thin
    Garlic, 3 clove (remove)
    Butter, salted, 4 tbsp (remove)
    *Balsamic Vinegar, 2 tbsp (remove)
    Brown Sugar, 6 tsp packed (remove)
    *Flour, white, .1875 cup (remove)
    *Kitchen Basics Unsalted Beef Cooking Stock, 4 cup (remove)
    *Beef Stock (Kitchen Basics), 4 cup (remove)
    *Dried Thyme, 3 tsp (remove)
    Pepper, black, .5 tsp (remove)
    *MORTON Sea Salt, Fine Salt, .5 tsp (remove)ea & Perrins Worcester Sauce, 6 tsp (remove)

Tips

This is the broth base, top with french bread and gruyere cheese (or bread and cheese of your choice) and broil for about 5 minutes, until cheese is bubbly.


Directions

Carmelize onions in sugar, butter, garlic and vinegar on high in slow cooker for 1 hour or until onions starting to brown (It took mine about 1.5 hours). You can also carmelize them on the stove top for 30 minutes, then transfer to slow cooker. Add flour to onions, stir and let sit for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, stir and cook on low for 6-8 hours. See tip if you want to add bread and cheese.
