Introduction

This recipe takes about 30 minutes~ not a good breakfast to make for the weekday morning 'hustle'. But, it refrigerates and reheats in microwave well. So, I double/triple the recipe and divide it up into small refrigerator containers to use throughout the week. Ingredients

    1 cup of rolled oats (not quick oats)
    2 cups 1% milk
    1/4 cup maple syrup
    1/3 cup chopped walnuts

Tips

Substitutions:
Blue agave and vanilla extract instead of maple syrup.

You can add fruit either cooked in the milk or added fresh. You can add different nuts: almonds, hazelnuts, pecans.


Directions

Combine milk and maple syrup in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and add oats. Turn heat low and allow to cook for 15 minutes; stir occasionally. Turn off heat and allow to sit for 5 more minutes. Add walnuts and serve.
