Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

    -250gm Round Steak (Gravy Beef is quicker but i find round gives a better taste)
    -1/2 Medium Onion, sliced or diced
    -1/2 Tablespoon olive oil
    -1 1/2 Tablespoons of Plain White flour (i tried wholewheat but does not form sauce easily)
    -3/4 cup water
    -1/2 medium carrot, quarters
    -1/2 large stick of celery, cut in chunks
    -1/2 medium turnip or parsnip or potato (i prefer potato), cubed
    -1/2 tablespoon parsley, coarsely chopped
    -1 tablespoon curry powder
    -1 tablespoon BBQ sauce
    -1/2 tsp of rosemary
    - salt and pepper to taste
    -3/4 cup of water or stock ( i use water to reduce sodium)

Directions

1, Trim meat and remove excess fat
2, Heat oil in pan, brown meat, remove from sauce pan, brown onion and remove.
3, Add flour, salt and pepper allow to brown. (when flour begins to change color remove from heat so not to let burn)
4, Add water and deglaze pan and stir til simmering.
5, Add meat, onion, curry powder, bbq sauce and rosemary and simmer gently for 1 hour.*
6, Add vegetables and allow to simmer for 1 hour stirring occasionally.
7, Serve on a hot plate or in bowl. I serve it with slightly toasted bread, i do this in the oven at 50°C for 20 minutes any bread works.
SERVES 2

*any flavourings can be used but this is a popular recipe at the restaurant/cafe where i work.
