Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    1 C + 2 tbsp butter
    1 1/2 cups white sugar
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    4 eggs

    3 1/2 cups flour
    1 tbsp baking powder
    1/2 cup milk

    1/3 cup cocoa
    2 tbsp milk

Tips

Let it cool! It truly is more flavourful when the cake has had a chance to rest overnight. This freezes well, if you like having things in the freezer to treat unexpected drop-ins.

Directions

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add eggs 1 at a time, creaming well in between each.

Mix flour and baking powder together. Add to creamed mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until just incorporated.

Place 2/3 of batter in greased large loaf pan (10" long) or greased bundt pan. Add cocoa and milk to remaining batter. Dot chocolate batter over white batter in pan. Drag a knife through to swirl batters together.

Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 60 to 70 minutes until pick inserted in centre comes out clean.
