Introduction

I usually don't have buttermilk on hand so I add a little over a teaspoon of vinegar to the milk, let sit a few minutes and then add to the mixture. Works great! Ingredients

    1 cup Flour, white
    1 tsp Baking Powder (heaping)
    .25 tsp Baking Soda
    0.25 tsp Great Value Iodized Salt
    2 tbsp Shortening, Crisco
    .38 cup Milk, 1%
    .3 tbsp (C) Vinegar, White

Tips

I like to use a heaping teaspoon of baking powder


Directions

Combine dry ingredients and cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the "buttermilk" mixture and knead the dough gently a few times on a lightly floured counter. Roll to 1/2 " thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter. Bake on a lightly greased sheet for 10 minutes at 450.

Serving Size: Makes 5 regular sized biscuits
