Ingredients

    1 tsp baking soda 1 egg
    1cup boiling water 1 1/2 cups flour
    1 cup chopped dates 1 /8 tsp salt
    3 tbsp margerine 1/3 cup chop nuts
    1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

In a small bowl mix the baking soda with the boiling water. Add the dates. Cool.

Cream the margarine and add the brown sugar. Beat in the egg. Add flour, salt and nuts. Add the cooled dates and vanilla.

Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour.
