Introduction

This is my sephardic grandmother's version without the walnuts. This is my sephardic grandmother's version without the walnuts.
Number of Servings: 65

Ingredients

    2 small lemon rinds (approx 2 Tbsp)
    1 large orange rind (approx 2 Tbsp)
    1 Tbs Cinnamon, ground
    885 gram(s) Apples, raw, peeled (approx 4 large or 6 small)
    885 grams Prunes, dried
    3/4 cup (6 oz) Manischewitz Concord Grape Wine
    Walnut pieces, optional, to taste

Tips

After reserving about 2 cups (1# 3.1 oz), I added 3.2 oz (about 3/4 c) chopped nuts.

The resulting ratio is about 4.5 c prepared Charoset to 3/4 c nuts.


Directions

Layer all ingredients in the order listed in a 5 qt crockpot. Set to low and cook 6 hours. Mash well.

When cool, add optional chopped walnuts (will change nutritional values.)
