My Mom, from the American South, made boiled custard for Christmas and New Years. It is really just a cooked eggnog and I like it better than egg nog. Here is a lightened up cheater's version. Ingredients

    32 gram(s) Jello sugar free fat free instant vanilla pudding mix (not prepared)
    4 cup Milk, nonfat (skim milk)
    1 tsp Imitation Rum Extract (by AEROBICSAHOLIC)
    1 tsp Nutmeg, ground
    .5 tsp Vanilla Extract

Tips

Serve this with a favorite light vanilla cake or cookie recipe or by itself.


Directions

In a large mixing bowl with a pouring spout: add: 1 tsp Nutmeg, ground; 1 tsp imitation Rum (or Brandy) extract; 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract, 1 quart nonfat (skim milk). Whisk to blend milk with flavoring. Whisk in 1 package (4 servings) of Jello sugar free fat free instant vanilla pudding mix. Whisk for 5 minutes and then chill. Top each serving with additonal Nutmeg, if desired. Freshly grated is even better!
