Not exactly real healthy, but when you get to craving it, it's worth indulging in once in a while.This is a German dish that my mom found in a cookbook years ago and has fixed for our family ever since. Number of Servings: 6
Ingredients

16 oz. thawed ground beef
1 medium chopped onion
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 10.75 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
1 10.75 oz. can water
1 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. poppy seeds
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup oil
2 Tbsp. margarine or butter.
1/2 cup bread crumbs.
Directions
Combine in a bowl:
16 oz. thawed ground beef
1 medium chopped onion
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Form this mixture into meatballs and brown the meatballs in a skillet. When browned, place in a baking dish.
Mix together:
1 10.75 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
1 10.75 oz. can water
Pour this liquid mixture over the meatballs.
For dumplings, mix together until gooey:
1 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. poppy seeds
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup oil
Melt 2 Tbsp. margarine or butter.
Mix in 1/2 cup bread crumbs.
Make round dumplings out of dough mixture, roll them in the bread crumbs/butter mixture, and place on top of the meatball/soup mixture.
Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes in a 425 degree oven.
An optional sauce to serve on the side is:
1/2 10.75 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup sour cream
