Ingredients

    3 quarts apples, sliced
    2/3 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup whole wheat flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    TOPPING:
    1 cup oatmeal
    1 cup oat bran
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup whole wheat flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 cup butter, softened
    1/4 cup buttermilk

Directions

Mix all filling ingredients and pour into a greased 9'x13' baking dish. For topping combine all dry ingredients and mix in butter with your hand mixing thouroughly. Mix in buttermilk with a fork until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of apples. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes to an hour until topping is browned and apples are soft. Makes 12 servings.

    Very Good
    This was pretty good... I think a different kind of apple would have been better. I used red delicious. Any recommendations? - 8/2/08

    Yellow delicious are very good in baked goods. Really almost anything would be better than red delicious. They should only be eaten raw.
