Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or margaine
1 cup (4 oz.) chopped walnuts or pecans
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 can (about 3/4 cup) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla Extract
Directions
1. Generosuly butter bottom of 8" square pan. Add nuts, shake pan to settle nuts.
2. Put remaining butter and the corn syrup in a 2 quart pan. Cook stirring, over medium heat until butter melts.
3. Add condensed milk, brone sugar and vanilla. stir to smoothly blend.
4. Cook, stirring constantly for 10-12 minutes or until mixture has a tick, caramelly consistency. (drop a small amount into a dis of cold water: it should hold togeter in a soft ball.)
5. Paur mixture ofver nuts in pan and tilt pan to allow caramel to flow over nuts in an even layer.
6. Let cool at least 2 hours. With a sarp knife, cut toffee into 1-inch squares. Wrap each square in waxed paper. Store in a cool, dry place
