Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    2 C TVP granules
1 quart unsweetened soy milk (can use coconut milk or other milk)
    1 T cinnamon
    1 t nutmeg
    1.5 T vanilla
    1/4 C Splenda

Directions

Mix all ingredients in large saucepan. Bring to boil, then simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally - you should know by looking when it's done. It should look thick like traditional oatmeal.

Can also be made in a crockpot:
It will be cooked in about 2 hours on high or 4 hours on low, but you can let it go longer and it won't hurt it.

Makes 6 large bowls.

Loved this. Added chopped up apples and let cook for 2hrs in crockpot. Will add a bit more of the spices next time. I also just made it with water (no milk) and it still tasted great. Texture was fantastic as well, just like oatmeal. - 10/28/10

    Good
First time I tried TVP anything. Yes, it's reminiscent of oatmeal. It has a similar texture and flavor. But it's really just absorbing the flavors of what you put in it. I gave it three stars for allowing me to try something other than eggs, meat & cheese for breakfast. - 7/6/12

    Incredible!
One of the best recipes I tried. Texture is like oatmeal. I put some pb2 and flaxseeds in it, used unsweetened almond milk. And instead of splenda I cooked it with Stevia. This will be a regular oatmeal substitute in my house! - 1/31/12

    Incredible!
I made a batch in my crock pot, I added flax meal and rasins. Everyone in my household loved it...Even my 5 year old. People thought I had the best potpourri in-town. - 2/2/10
