Introduction

Great tasting and inexpencive alternative to other oriental dressings serving size : 1 tablespoon\

I did some checking on the comments on my dressing. to those who think corn syrup is bad try looking up a possible side effects list? whatever. i checked to see if there was any fat in it. ???? not. and if you want to use the following if you are really scared here's the comparison
corn syrup 60cal/tbs 16.3 carbs
Honey 64.4cal/tbs 17.5 carbs
Brown sugar 51.7cal/tbs 13.4 carbs
just a side note try looking at a label in a store bought oriental dressing to see what's in it and compare the cost that will convert you to homemade dressings in a hurry :)

Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    1/2 cup white vinegar
    1/2 cup corn syrup
    1/4 low sodium soy sauce
    1 teaspoon ground ginger
    1 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 table spoons thinly sliced green onion or chives

Directions

Mix all together in a jar stiring well till corn syrup disolves. Best if let sit for at least an hour befor serving so flavors can mix.

Shake before pouring because onion tends to float.

if you do not fancy corn syrup you can use honey or sugar the flavor will be altered slightly and you only need to use half the honey.

I loved this & have no problem with corn syrup I just wanted to know the serving size. I assume it is 1/20 of 1 1/4 cups fluid which is roughly 300 mls - thus 1/20 is 15 ml = 3 tsp= 1 Tbsp! SO... one serving size is 1 Tbsp. Sorry, I'm lazy - - I could have done the math myself in the first place. - 7/4/08

For those who can get, also excellent made with Roger's Syrup or Lyle's Golden Syrup, both made from sugar cane. Gives a richer flavour than corn syrup. - 9/27/12

What is the shelf life for this? I would love to make it but I would be the only one to use it...I worry that it won't get used before it goes bad. - 2/22/12

When changing from sugar or corn syrup us about 2/3 of what you would have used. I use 1/2 of what I would of used with sugar or corn syrup.

I made this dressing last night and it was delicious! I put it on a steak salad I made with romain, cheese, steak, cashews, and raisins. Absolutely wonderful! - 6/30/11

    Incredible!
I read about corn cyrup and it's basically sugar and corn starch. Nothing wrong with either, as we learn here on Sparkpeople, it is the amount...everything in moderation =) If you're opposed to corn starch, I think honey would be an acceptable alt since it is thick. Thanks for the yummy dressing - 5/29/09
