Ingredients

    *Potato, raw, 1 large (3" to 4-1/4" dia.) chopped
    Carrots, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    Red Ripe Tomatoes, 1 cup, chopped or sliced
    Beans, great northern, 4 cup (or canned)
    Barley, pearled, cooked, 1 cup
    Ham, regular (11% fat), 2 cup, diced
    Water, tap, 6 cup (8 fl oz)
    Salt, 3 tsp or to taste
    Pepper, black, 1 tbsp or to taste
    Bay Leaf, one whole
    Garlic, 3 cloves finely chopped

Directions

In a crock pot ,add potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, bay leaf, beans, barley, ham and water. Cook on high for 5 hours or on low for about 8-9 hours. Add salt and pepper and stir to combine. Discard bay leaf and serve.

Note: dry beans can be used if soaked over night. Make enough beans to make 4 cups and drain.
