Ingredients

    medium head of cabbage, roughly cut
    smoked turkey sausage, cut in large pieces
    1 tsp salt (omit for lower sodium)
    1 tsp pepper
    .5 tsp garlic powder

Directions

add ingredients to large pan
cover with water and boil until vegetables are tender
makes 5 to 6 servings

    3 modifications:
    *Minced garlic sauteed in a small amount of olive oil, before adding other ingredients and liquid, tastes even better than using garlic powder
    * Omit the salt as a matter of principle
    * Use low sodium chicken or, better, vegetable broth instead of just water
