Ingredients

1/2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 c warm water
1 pkg (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
4 cups flour
eggwash
sesamew seeds or coarse salt
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 450 F.
2. In a large bowl, combine sugar, water, and yeast. Stir until yeast dissolves.
3. Add the flour 1 cup at a time stirring well after each addition until you have a soft dough that is not sticky. Knead dough for 6 minutes.
4. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll each piece into a large rope, about 18 - 20 inches.
5. Bend the rope into a pretzel shape or sticks, hearts, twists, etc. on cookie sheet sprayed with Pam. (I made mine into 6 ropes and made 2 braids.)
6. Brush with eggwash and sprinkle with coarse salt or sesame seeds if desired.
7. Bake for about 12 minutes.
