Introduction

Recipe from Smucker's with my adjustments for taste. I use less sugar and baking pwder rather than soda. I also omit the salt in their recipe. I imagine any berry preserves would be delicious! Ingredients

1/2 cup room temperature butter or margarine
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1 cup flour
    1 cup rolled oats
    1/2 cup red raspberry preserves

Directions

Makes 16 servings (2 in squares)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 8 x 8 baking dish with cooking or baking spray.

Cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy, add vanilla extract.
Combine flour, oats and baking powder, add to butter mixture. Combine until crumbly. Press crust mixture into bottom of 8 x8 pan, reserving about 1/4 cup for topping. Spread crust with preserves (warming slightly in microwave may help if they've been refrigerated). Crumble reserved topping over preserves. Bake 35-40 minutes until topping is golden brown and crust is set. Let cool and cut into 2 in squares.

Calorie count is for butter.
